Down The Rabbit Hole

FUCKING PASTA

Okay, everyone at work is having to bring in a dish tomorrow for our "easter/non-easter/non-religious" party I want to bring a Pasta Salad dish since I stupidly put myself in that category instead of the simple veggie or dessert category.

Here is what I need from you... a quick, simple recipe with NO (you guessed it) NO MAYO!

I have 7 bucks in my pocket and I am sure if I turn over some couch cushions and check in my car I could round up 2 dollars more.

So, give me some recipe advice!

Otherwise I am going to the "in-laws" house to see and have dinner with the boy-toy's Nana who flew in from Maine... an 82 year old lady who still works in the potato fields every day, owns over a hundred pairs of shoes, and wears a white glove when she smokes her evening cigarette.

God love her.... that, fellow readers, is a true-hero!

You cook some of that linguine pasta, then add dried tomatoes, and some extra olive oil. You can add a little bit of oregano if you want

cook some chicken, chop it up...put the chicken in with the pasta, mix it up.

It's pretty good - and cheap too.

I will let you know what I end up doing but it looks like a combo of Phoenix's and Dusty's recipes.

Can I suggest combining the two and putting some balsamic vinegrette on it?

In a large pot of salted water boil pasta and drain well.
In a small saucepan heat oil slightly, add garlic. Saute garlic until it is lightly browned. Be careful not to burn garlic.
Combine pasta and garlic, salt and pepper to taste. Top with Parmesan or Romano cheese and serve.
Let me know (if you use it) how it turns out. But it depends on if you like garlic or not.
Or try this. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until done; drain and place in ice water until cool.
Toss pasta with onion, feta, balsamic, olive oil and tomato. Serve immediately or chill 1 to 2 hours in refrigerator.

Hey Kurt! That is where by boy-toy is from, originally presque isle than eventually stockholm maine/caribou.

His brother who is three years younger than him was always in his class room since they had three grades to a class room and yes, they did get out of school to pick potatos.

I ended up using the balsamic vinegrette ides.... pretty corksrew pasta, zucchinni, yellow squash, and orange peppers.... it was pretty, and pretty tasting too!

If you make the Ranch dressing at home, yes it does require mayo..but if you buy the pre-made stuff..I have no idea..

Phoenix's does sound very good..I am going to try it w/balsamic.

alice, my mom was from van buren. a couple of years ago i was at the eye doctor. after having the exam, he sends me to the "store" to pick frames. his father is helping me. he is having me practice looking through frames by reading a road map. it was a map of new england. being from connecticut, i remarked on it. he said his wife's family was from up north. i told him where i was from, turned the map over to the maine side and pointed to northern maine.
"that is up north," i said.
turns out he grew up next door to my aunt (who is married to mom's brother!).
my wife told me that i was the only one she knew that could learn all that in the ten minutes it takes to buy frames!
